Corporate Planning consists of a team of highly experienced individuals who call themselves ‘The Mavericks’. Each Maverick brings their own lived life experience and connections to the team to create a wide range of knowledge which is proven to help clients achieve their business goals.

Paul Gosling

CEO

Paul has experience of working at the very top of the financial services industry and has achieved top adviser status at all the companies he has worked for including, among others, Schroeder’s and Norwich Union. Paul holds Life Membership of MDRT, an honour which is only awarded to financial professionals achieving sustained measurable career success over many years. Paul is a dedicated Mentor, he is involved in mentoring for the Santander Breakthrough Women Business Leader Programme consecutively for the last six years, additionally he also supports the Help to Grow Management mentoring programme funded by HM Government. Paul's unwavering dedication to mentorship and his passion for empowering people is truly inspiring.

Rebecca became Chief Operating Office of Corporate Planning in January 2025. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Science from the University of Portsmouth and began her career in Human Resources. After qualifying from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Rebecca advanced to the role of HR Business Partner in a Training and Development sector. Her extensive expertise spans various aspects of the professional landscape and she is eager to propel Corporate Planning to new heights.

Matthew Gosling

CFO

Matthew studied Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Design and business development with a Master of Science focused in Automotive and Motorsport Engineering from Brunel University London.  He has many interests and enjoys playing rugby, travelling for motorsport, and working closely with the team at Corporate Planning.

John is a specialist in debt raising for companies throughout the world. He has had “C” level roles with a subsidiary of Lloyds Bank and numerous independent funders. Having established his own consultancy and business finance brokerage in 1998, which still operates today, John says that he enjoys the challenge of finding solutions that will work for his clients. Married, with two adult children he lives on the edge of the Cotswolds. Other claim to fame – he used to be in The Archers.

Craig McLaren

Craig is a leadership advisor, non-executive director, trustee and healthcare consultant. He established a consultancy 2018 in the U.K. Craig has recently joined the board of the Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA). He is also a Non-Executive Director with Rothband, a privately owned healthcare company based in NW England and is currently advising several healthcare start-ups in the U.K. Healthcare consultancy clients have included BD, Boston Scientific, Beckman Coulter and Molnlycke, as well as Guys & St Thomas Trust, Christie’s in Manchester and a private care home business in Scotland. In a corporate career over 30 years in Healthcare, Craig spent 25 years with Johnson & Johnson in Europe based roles as well as significant emerging market experience, with many years based in Dubai where he founded and chaired Mecomed, the medical technology association. Craig enjoyed success as a Managing Director, Area Managing Director and Vice President and has contributed at board level in Europe as well as on the Ethicon global board.

Xavier is an entrepreneur and the owner of a media group dedicated to the luxury assets and wealth management with offices in London and Monaco for the last ten years. He created his business as a start-up focusing on the super yacht industry and successfully expanded to a full media portfolio dedicated to Family Offices, real estate, alternative investment, Fintech, Art, philanthropy and luxury lifestyle sectors. Prior to launching Xavier had worked within the international financial daily press, television, business & luxury lifestyle publications but also financial PR and private banking. With his experience, Xavier has now multiple track records of developing start-ups to international expansion from concept, team building, business development, partnerships and funding. Through his success Xavier has created his own international network to assist businesses with their marketing and investment, but also created a unique media solution for international luxury brands to reach and interact with a very unique audience.

Stephen is a qualified Mechanical Engineer and has over 35 years’ experience leading businesses in pharmaceuticals, heavy engineering, automotive, air power and renewable energy. He has international experience and a degree in business and marketing from Westminster University. He has been involved in all stages of building businesses for shareholder sale, IPO’s, recruiting managements teams, M&A, running companies as Chairman, Director and VP. As an investor, he has more than 20 years’ experience in private equity ventures and start-ups. Stephen has a wealth of experience with more than 35 years leading and growing businesses, both in private and public USA companies. Stephen has international experience and has a degree in business and marketing from Westminster University in London.

Dan's background is in software systems engineering and systems architecture. Being the designer of a large number of systems and platforms in a wide range of industries including finance, media, insurance, asset management and cybersecurity A tech entrepreneur and founder of a deep tech company originating a version of low-code long before the term was coined, and now connecting this technology to multiple industries and extending it to run on blockchain. A director in multiple companies which are JV implementations designed to roll out the one technology into multiple domains

A business growth/acceleration and funding specialist with degrees in Marketing-Communications and Economics. NED, SME Business mention, Enterprise Architect; he describes himself as a facilitator! Raise Profile: Equity: normally £1million-£20million Debt and Asset and other commercial facilities: min £250k upwards Ian’s career began in marketing and corporate communications and now includes investor relations. This has taken him to the Middle East and the first of five family offices in South Africa, Qatar, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Singapore. Ian has broad sector experience: Financial Services, Print and Publishing, Technology, Property and Construction, Disruptive Tech, Trade and industry Associations, Ecommerce, Travel, Leisure, Hospitality, Airlines, Franchising and Licensing, Block Chain/Crypto (a bit, far from an expert), also some in the Gaming sector.

Jeremy is a board-level consultant and senior advisor with over 30 years of C-suite experience in strategy, finance, M&A, operations, business and corporate development, and team leadership across diverse B2B sectors. He has held CFO, COO, CEO, and CCO roles in technology solutions, FMCG, retail, information services, nanotechnology, and agri-tech. Jeremy spent 7 years at GTECH Corporation, including two years in the USA leading product development and marketing teams, and 10 years at Ipsos SA, where he led operational transformations in LatAm, MENA, and Europe and managed minority partner relationships. A chartered accountant by training, he is passionate about building strong businesses and helping teams navigate challenging situations.

Chris Metalle is Chief Financial Officer of First CoSec Ltd, which provides a range of company secretarial, legal and compliance services to organisations in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. He has a background in Corporate Finance and Private Equity where he was a director for many years leading major financing projects. He has worked in corporate finance and private equity at 3i PLC, BZW and Deloittes as well as running pre-IPO at SG Investment Bank. He has a thorough knowledge of corporate governance and compliance having steered companies from the financial sector through the authorisation process with The Financial Conduct Authority. He holds an Honours degree from Durham University and an MBA from Bradford University.

Ian is an experienced financial professional with a career spanning over two decades. He began his journey as a chartered accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), gaining a solid foundation in financial expertise. He then spent 20 years as an investment banker in London, working with several international banks and acquiring deep knowledge of global finance and strategic transactions. Over the past five years, Ian has focused on supporting small businesses and startups by providing strategic advice and financial guidance, helping them unlock their potential and navigate complex financial landscapes.

Mike Tooke

Mike has over 20 years of experience in sustainable technologies ranging from waste-derived fuels to the use of plasma to produce chemicals.  His approach has been to evaluate and support new technologies in their early stages assessing chemistry, thermodynamics, markets and economics.  He has both raised grant funding for such technologies and run projects to progress them, mainly aimed at feasibility.  These range from gasification, the production of bio-methanol to tyre pyrolysis.  He is a director of Plasma2x, a company commercialising technology to produce sustainable ammonia, ammonium nitrate and nitric acid using air, water and renewable power. 

Anthony Pollock began his career in accounting practices before founding Anthony Pollock and Co, a firm focused on SME auditing, tax planning and business advisory services. Following regulatory changes in 2004 the firm was sold to a larger practice where he specialised in business development and strategic advisory. From 2007, he held CFO and Business Development roles across various sectors, gaining extensive experience in financial management and fundraising. In 2012, he became CFO of a company serving the global Cold Chain Market. Since 2018, Anthony has led a fractional CFO practice, supporting businesses in improving financial performance, cash flow and growth in equity value. The firm provides advanced forecasting, reporting, M&A and equity enhancing advisory services helping clients in the UK and Internationally to scale, maximise business value and preparing for a future sale.
